Day 1:
Arrived in Mexico.
Disclaimer* We needed a rental car to explore the area as well as get to our resort. So Nick used his impressive negotiating skills to get the nicest car on the lot for the cheapest price. Once we arrived we couldn't resist taking this picture to send to the family group chat to let them know we made it safe and sound.
The AC in our Mercedes was much appreciated for our hour long drive to the resort. Our accommodations for the 10 days was condo on the golf course in an all-inclusive resort (and we even reaped the benefits of free food and drinks without having to pay for it). Not sure how we managed to make that happen, but it sure was nice.

The beaches were long and beautiful and we walked along them for hours and then relaxed in our personal jacuzzi because the humidity was off the charts and our AC downstairs hadn't kicked in yet.
Day 2:
Saving money on our flights meant that we didn't pay for luggage and only brought carry-ons with us, so we had a limited supply of sunscreen. Unfortunately, they know tourists are going to need to buy more sunscreen and we ended up paying a ridiculous amount for more, and we still managed to get a little burnt.
We love adventure and sometimes tend to push the limits. So first up, we found a small boutique hotel in Tulum with a second level infinity pool and took a dip.
From the pool deck we could see another hotel with swings and hammocks that overlooked the ocean. We made our way over there and walked right past the workers so we could take the view in.
I'd have to say my favorite story of the day was when we walked into a really nice estate looking hotel. The weather hadn't been the best in the morning so the workers had grabbed everything off the beach, but since the sun was coming back out we went to lounge on a day bed. After awhile we saw someone coming our direction and we thought he was coming over to kick us out, but instead he brought us the blankets and pillows they had cleaned up earlier and offered us drinks! We realized that he didn't question why we were there because he only spoke Spanish and we only spoke English. (I guess sometimes it helps when you don't remember anything from Spanish class)

Day 3:
We finally hung out at the resort, we sat by the pool, tanned, and relaxed. Our resort was attached to three other beachfront resorts, so we had the choice of 10 different pools. It was nice to get some color and people watch, but we also like to be on the go, so we finally got tired of hanging around and headed back to Tulum. This time we checked out a few more beaches and then had tacos and smoothies for dinner.
Day 4:
One of the things we had talked about doing long before going on this trip was that we wanted to get a couples massage. Today was the day that we were going to make that happen. We found a place that looked the least sketchy and went for it, and it was definitely worth it.
Our booking came with a complimentary a la carte dinner, so we chose a Japanese restaurant (of course!). We got all dressed up and headed on our “date night”. The food was definitely a step up from the buffets, and since we were honeymooners, they blindfolded me as we walked to the table and joked that Nick had the table set up with all the flower petals.
Day 5:
Moped Day!
One thing I would highly recommend is renting a moped and riding it up the coast of Tulum (as you can see, we liked that town). We went to, what they call, “Pablo Escobar’s Mansion”, got some Acai Bowls from a little shop along the way, and ate some gelato. The shops along the way were SO cute, and I wish I could have bought everything.
We also stopped at the IK LAB art gallery, and I wouldn’t say we’re huge art people, but the architecture of the place was amazing.
The store that was attached to it had little tunnels between sections and a river flowing through it. But a single pair of shorts from there was over $3000. That meant we did not touch because we couldn't afford wrecking anything in that place.
