2 weeks ago I got my eyebrows microbladed! Best decision EVER!
I don’t have to worry about my eyebrows when I put makeup on and they’re perfectly even. I only started filling in my eyebrows a few months ago, but it was always so annoying and I never felt like they were good enough. But now, they are just right! They will continue to get a little darker once the pigment comes back and I get them touched up a bit. But then I will have them for a few years before having to do anything with them!
STEP 1:
The first step is to find the right person to do your eyebrows. I went to Chloe Hall (@brow_geeks)! And that was the best decision I made! She takes all the time she needs with each client, makes them feel completely comfortable and listens to all of your needs. She takes the time to explain everything and inform you of the whole process. If you live in the DC area, you definitely need to use her when you get your brows microbladed! It was a fun appointment for me because she is originally from Canada too and we got to talk all about where we grew up.
Her website has all the “before appointment” information that answers all the frequently asked questions about microblading.
STEP 2: Appointment
The appointment consists of mapping out the brow shape and the whole microblading process and adding pigment to the skin in order to get the full brow look. It hurts a little bit, but the numbing cream helps and it’s more of an annoyance because someone is scraping your face for a hour, and less of a painful technique. But still completely WORTH IT!
I wanted a very natural looking brow, so mine aren't as dramatic as other people, but I also don't have dark features so I love how they turned out!
The appointment ends and you have your new brows! But the next step is the more intense part of the process.
STEP 3: Healing
The healing process is the crazy part! Chloe sent me home with a little package of supplies I needed for the next few days.
For the next 10 days you’re not supposed to get your eyebrows wet, and definitely not supposed to sweat. So if you need a little break from the gym then it’s a great excuse.
My only problem was that my husband and I had a soccer game the next day for our co-ed team. Of course, I couldn’t play, but I still wanted to go watch and support him. So I had to explain to everyone why I had to just stand on the sidelines and why my eyebrows were SUPER dark and huge! Haha Some of the guys joked that new eyebrows weren’t a good enough excuse to miss a game, but I knew it was worth it!
Day 1: The eyebrows are a little tender and sore, but you get to see the shape of them and know that the next two weeks will be worth it once they are done healing.
Day 2-4: My eyebrows were super dark and looked a lot bigger than normal. I was avoiding public a little or just telling everyone what was going on so people didn’t think I majorly messed up on my brows that day.
Day 5-8: Lots of scabbing and peeling, but DON’T TOUCH! Let them naturally heal and let the scabs fall of themselves because you may peel away the pigment if you start messing with your eyebrows. They’re starting to get lighter.
Day 9-10: Once they’re done peeling, they almost look like they’re all gone and you lost your brows, but it’s just the natural process of your skin and they get darker again. So don’t worry.
Day 11-14: They’re beginning to get darker again and starting to fill out and get pigment back. The last week of healing is starting to get worth it, and you forget about everything you had to go through to get to this point because they’re an amazing shape and color!
Day 14 and after: I haven’t had to touch my eyebrows during my makeup routine and it’s been awesome! I wake up, look in the mirror and feel like I’m already halfway ready because my eyebrows look so good.
If you’ve been thinking about getting your eyebrows microbladed then just know that it’s worth it, especially if you have someone good doing the brows! If you have any other questions about it just let me know, or if you’ve gotten it done before, I would love to hear about your process!
